Tips for Hiring a Towing Service

There is never a convenient time to have a car accident, a dead battery, to run out of gas or slide into a ditch and it’s usually not something you can plan for. When one of these unexpected problems arise you don’t want to be on the side of the road reading Google Reviews to find a reputable towing truck operator

The best time to choose a towing service is before you need one.

Doing a little research about the local towing companies in your area can save you anxiety and possibly some money when the time comes.

Unfortunately, all towing companies are not created equally.

A towing company that specializes in repo work will not have the same job knowledge as one that does a lot of AAA work (flat tire, dead battery, lock-out, etc.).

So when you have a few minutes, sit down and make some phone calls.

Ask a few questions about how long they’ve been in business, the services they offer, how they determine their fees (flat rate or by the mile), the equipment they use and whether they accept insurance/credit cards.

Once you have found one or two companies that you feel comfortable with, jot the phone numbers on a piece of paper and keep it in your wallet with your proof of insurance. Then when you run into trouble, you’ll have one less thing to worry about.

Extra Emergency Tip: Always keep jumper cables, a blanket, a candle, matches or lighter, and a couple of granola bars and bottles of water in your car in case of emergency.
